Xiudian Dai
Having completed his PhD degree at the University of Sussex, Dr Xiudian Dai began his academic career in 1994 at the University of Hull. He is currently Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics and International at the University of Hull, where he is also Director for the postgraduate programme Global Communications and International Politics. Xiudian’s main research interest is the relationship between new media and governance with particular reference to China and the European Union. He has recently undertaken two research projects funded by the British Academy. He is author for The Digital Revolution and Governance (Aldershot: Ashgate, 2000) and Corporate Strategy, Public Policy and New Technologies (Oxford: Pergamon, 1996) and co-editor for The Internet and Parliamentary Democracy in Europe (London: Routledge, 2008). He is Editorial Board Member for the International Journal of Information Communication Technology and Human Development (IJICTHD). In recent years Xiudian has supervised PhD students, who have successfully conducted research on topics related to the Internet and European governance; governance of digital convergence in Malaysia; policy networks and the European information society; and EU-China relations in the information age. Xiudian has been appointed as External Examiner since 2004 for the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies at UiTM (Universiti Teknologi MARA) in Malaysia.
